A. SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

1. Written Examination:
   • Subjects: Mathematics and General Ability Test
   • Duration: Each subject has 2½ hours duration
   • Maximum Marks: Mathematics (300), General Ability Test (600)
   • Total Marks: 900
2. SSB Test/Interview:
   • Maximum Marks: 900
3. General Instructions:
   • Objective type questions only
   • Mathematics and Part “B” of General Ability Test set bilingually in Hindi and English
   • Questions involving the metric system of Weights and Measures only
   • Candidates must write the papers in their own hand
   • Discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all subjects
   • Use of calculator or Mathematical or logarithmic table not permitted

UPSC NDA 2 2024 Syllabus

PAPER-I: MATHEMATICS (Code No. 01) – Maximum Marks: 300

1. Algebra:
   • Concept of set, operations on sets, Venn diagrams
   • De Morgan laws, Cartesian product, relation, equivalence relation
   • Representation of real numbers, complex numbers, binary system
   • Arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, quadratic equations, permutation, combination, binomial theorem, logarithms
2. Matrices and Determinants:
   • Types of matrices, operations, determinant, adjoint, inverse
   • Applications in solving linear equations, Cramer’s rule, Matrix Method
3. Trigonometry:
   • Trigonometrical ratios, identities, sum and difference formulae
   • Inverse trigonometric functions, applications in height and distance, properties of triangles
4. Analytical Geometry of Two and Three Dimensions:
   • Coordinate system, distance formula, equations of lines, circles, standard forms of conics, direction cosines and ratios, equations of planes, spheres
5. Differential Calculus:
   • Real valued function, limits, continuity, derivatives, applications in maxima and minima
6. Integral Calculus and Differential Equations:
   • Integration, definite integrals, areas of plane regions, differential equations, first-order equations, growth and decay problems
7. Vector Algebra:
   • Vectors, operations, scalar and vector products, applications in work, moment of a force
8. Statistics and Probability:
   • Classification, frequency distribution, graphical representation
   • Measures of central tendency, variance, standard deviation, correlation, regression
   • Probability, random experiments, binomial distribution

PAPER-II: GENERAL ABILITY TEST (Code No. 02) – Maximum Marks: 600

Part ‘A’ – English (Maximum Marks: 200):

• Grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, cohesion in extended text

Part ‘B’ – General Knowledge (Maximum Marks: 400):

• Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, Geography, Current Events

Intelligence and Personality Test:

• Consists of two-stage Selection process – stage I and stage II, including Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests, Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT), Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and Conference.

3. Apply: If already registered, proceed directly to fill out the online application for the exam.

Changing OTR Profile:

1. One-time Change: You can change your OTR profile only once after registration.
2. Time Limit: Changes are allowed within 7 days after the application window for your first exam closes.
   • First-time Applicants: For those applying for the first time in this exam, the last date to modify the OTR is 11.06.2024.

Changing Application Form:

1. Correction Window: Corrections to the application form are allowed from 05.06.2024 to 11.06.2024.
2. Change OTR During This Period: If you need to change your OTR profile during this time, log in to the OTR platform.
   • Important: You cannot change the OTR profile through the application form correction window.
